CAR CARE CLASSES
A certified PRISM mechanic gives basic car care and maintenance instruction in a "hands-on" environment at PRISM's Automotive Repair Shop. Participants also receive information on car insurance. Car care classes are open to anyone by referral from a social services agency.
To participate, call your social service agency or PRISM at 763-529-1350.
- Classes are free, but limited to 15 participants--please sign up early
- At this time, childcare is not available. Please make arrangements for your children when attending.
- Teens are welcome to attend the class and learn!

Car Care Saturdays
PRISM participates with St. James Lutheran Church in Crystal and North Memorial Safe Kids to provide free car care to low-income families on 2 Saturdays each in the spring and fall. Families must own a vehicle and be a current client of one of the participating social service agencies: PRISM, CEAP, NEAR, CROSS, Discover, Welcome Center / Family Resource Center.
The following services are provided:
- Oil changes
- Diagnostic check-up of belts, hoses, tires and other basic systems
- Complete car seat inspections, and free replacement if necessary, for families with children under the age of 8
- Car cleaning, inside and out
To participate, call your social service agency and be ready with your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), year, make, model (all of this info is on your title). Bring a photo ID and proof of address to your appointment.
